The Training Visit of the Lebanese delegation to Salento ended with the EDUCAMARE event organized by the proloco of Casalabate (LE). The visit is part of the activities of the initiative Blue Tyre. Local Partnership for Sustainable Marine and Coastal Development funded by AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) and led by the Municipality of Tricase and the Municipality of Tyre.

In addition to the institutional meetings with the Mayors of Tricase, Alessano, Martignano, Calimera, Squinzano and San Cesario, the calendar of the visit was full of training sessions with companies and associations that are experimenting with a model of sustainable development in the province of Lecce: Sea Turtle Recovery Center of Calimera, Ass. Magna Grecia Mare, Agricampeggio Le Fattizze, Coop. Terra Rossa, Community Laboratory of Tricase, Ass. Città Fertile, University of Salento, Litorale di Ugento Regional Natural Park, Adovos and Leones Association of Alessano, Tricase Worm Composter.

The aim of the initiative is to identify strategies to make the economic model (fishing/tourism/trade) compatible with the protection of ecosystems, the protection of cultural and natural heritage, the health and well-being of the population, and to strengthen the historic relations between Italy and the country of the Cedars at a particularly difficult time for the Middle East, contributing to the construction of bridges of international dialogue and peace.
