On January 9, 2016, in the framework of project ” Strengthening of social and educational services for minors in Palestinian refugee camps of Mar Elias, Burj El Barajneh and Rashidieh in Lebanon ” co-financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the workshop on dental hygiene, nutrition and psychological well-being started for teachers and parents. The workshop is conducted by experts from UISP in coordination with a local dentist and a nutritionist.
About 150 children of the three GKCF centers, 20 teachers and up to 300 parents of children attending the centers will benefit from an education on dental hygiene of children and on the health risks associated with poor nutrition.
The multidisciplinary approach of the workshop includes theoretical explanations according to the different ages and knowledge of participants, practical activities of hygiene on how to properly clean our teeth, application of fluoride for children aged between 4 and 6 years, and games and motor activities to consolidate the informations acquired during the workshop.
At the end of the activities in each center, dental hygiene kits will be distributed to the participants (toothbrush and toothpaste as well as mouthwash and floss for adults).
