CTM is an Italian NGO established in Lecce (Italy) in 1985 and working in Lebanon since 1991. In collaboration with multiple local and international partners CTM is now implementing the project “Enhancing the rights of minors: new opportunities of non- formal education in the South of Lebanon”- AID 10585/CTM/LBN. The project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, aims at improving the quality and availability of community spaces and non-formal education in favor of minors, including minors with disabilities. Together with different local and international partners, the project is working in the province of Saida and Tyre. Within the framework of this project CTM is seeking for a:
Consultant Psychologist
Tasks and duties
The Psychologist will work in coordination with CTM psychologist and local partners. The candidate will work with partners’ centers dealing with both young adults and children with special needs. S/he will report to CTM project manager. Selected candidate is expected to provide around 40 days of consultancy to be completed within the end of 2016. Main task will include: a) a need assessment with teachers of partner organizations and families of children; b) organization and delivery of workshops at the partner centers in Saida and Tyre. Some centers are located inside Palestinian camps. S/he should be able to:
- work with children and adults with disabilities, including families of disabled
- work in close coordination with partners’ staff and coordinate with other expert staff, when necessary
- respect confidentiality and the right of the beneficiary
- conduct a need assessment with teachers and families
- plan and conduct trainings for teachers and educators
- prepare training materials and presentations as needed
- report periodically to project manager
- Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others
Required qualifications
- Bachelor Degree (University Degree)
- Field of education: Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or related field
- Specialization about disability is an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in working with children with special needs
- A broad-minded, non-judgmental attitude and a respect for others and understanding of equality and diversity issues
- Good communication skills; ability to maintain outstanding working relationships
- A result-oriented approach and the ability to work independently
- Adaptation to specific working conditions
- Fluent in spoken/written Arabic and good knowledge of English language.
- Previous NGO experience is a plus
Duty station
Project office is located in Tyre. The candidate is expected to work with different partners in Saida and Tyre.
