ENHANCING THE RIGHTS OF MINORS: NEW OPPORTUNITIES OF NON- FORMAL EDUCATION IN THE SOUTH OF LEBANON
Dark in the auditorium, music. The glaze of the students is focused on the stage, and the play written by Les Amis des Marionnettes for our project starts. The staff of Les Amis des Marionnettes, a Lebanese NGO that has been cooperating with CTM for a long time, is very experienced in staging puppet shows for the schools and their performance is very entertaining: students like it and teachers are very interested.
The show is the final part of the launch of project’s activity with the schools. Teachers and school principals attended the two workshops organized to present the program and they had the chance to see the performance that will be played in their schools. During the workshops, the calendar of the tour starting in January, covering most of the schools in the province of Tyre and Saida, was also organized.
The topic of the play is healthy nutrition and, more broadly, respect for the environment. Characters and locations recall elements of local culture and landscape. The screenplay was written by Les Amis des Marionnettes specifically for this project, based on the briefing provided by CTM and the other stakeholders involved.
The presentation of the show in the schools will be complemented, starting next year, by the visits of the students to local food processing cooperatives producing typical local products.
